Well, YAPC::NA 2011 in Asheville, NC is over, and I had the opportunity (after getting bumped around more than a couple times) to give a lightning talk as part of the final session. I had previously done a blog post on the subject, but I wanted to share some of my thoughts with a wider audience.
Several attendees have already commented that they thought my talk was well-delivered, and that my thoughts were valuable, and I’ve had requests for suggestions on how people outside p5p can work together to move the mountain. I’m thrilled that I was able to spur some discussion of what to do, and I hope that carries forward beyond YAPC and has a real impact on the development of the language.
One downside though – mst got me to volunteer to write Perl tests for some of the better behaviour I want from the language. What have I gotten myself into?! :D
If you want to view them, my slides are available below, and the video of that lightning talk session will be posted online sometime. I’ll be sure to update this post with a link when that’s available.
